Terry McLean

Virden, Manitoba

Born: 1935

Terry McLean has lived all his life on the prairies. He is entirely self-taught in art. Terry portrays the simple beauty of the prairies in landscapes as well as scenes of Canadian history and wildlife. A love of the plains and the animals that abound there is what started him drawing and painting at an early age.

Among his commissions have been a large number of cover paintings for catalogues and magazines. People who own his original works are from all walks of life, including an American Governor and a Canadian bush pilot. His largest single work is a 46 x 5 foot mural commissioned by a Winnipeg firm as a Centennial project.

It is entitled “Manitoba Wildlife 1867 – 1967”
